Subproject 1b will install an approximate 4 MW / 4 MWh of storage capacity at the Honiara Power Station, adjacent to an existing 11kV switchboard where electrical integration will occur. Another 5 MW / 20 MWh BESS will be installed with grid-forming battery inverters at the Honiara East substation.

The approximately 1.0 MWp ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) array in Henderson will occupy 1.2 hectares of a 1.32 ha registered in the Honiara Land Registry as Lot 290 of LR 83/R, Parcel number 192-004-255 transferred to Solomon Power (SP) on 30 May 2022.
A socio-economic survey of 100 households around the Henderson and Honiara sites in Guadacanal and the Ambu site in Malaita was carried out during June – July 2023, which gave rise to opportunities to discuss and to gauge community views of the project.
